A FIREY CHRISTMAS TREE TALE

When i was a young whippesnapper my Grandmother always had a huge Christmas tree that almost reached the ceiling. After she died when I was ten my parents had a shorter one that stood on the Radiogram to achieve thae same effect of height.
Still decorated with tinsel, paper chains, contton wool as snow, wonderful glass Christmas balls of all shapes and sizes and real multi coloured candles in small metal clip-on multi coloured holders.
With the candles all lit and a room full of guests everything was going well.
Until, all of a sudden, the fairly dried out Christmas tree covered in inflamable decorations decided, all of a sudden, to go up in flames.
Now, in an instant, a massive fireball in a very large flower pot, was grabbed my my father and rushed out of the room, down the hall and out into the garden.
With that amazing reflex action, he saved everyone and the house itself from a very different outcome and Christmas was saved.
Needless to say, future trees were decorated with electric strings of mini bulbs that were now newly becoming available at great cost but very much safer.
